Red Light, Green Light
The player on stands with their back turned and speaks; while the words run everybody creeps closer, and on the stop they freeze.
The rules of red light, green light
What differs
Instead of the line, the player on gives two commands, and anyone caught moving is not eliminated but returns to the start.
The commands
With their back turned, the player on calls green light aloud — and the players begin moving towards them.
At any moment they call red light and turn round sharply.
Back to the start
Whoever the player on has seen moving is named aloud and goes back behind the start line. All the ground they had covered is lost.
The player on may try to mislead the players by saying unexpected words instead of the command: it is the exact wording that must be listened for.
Winning
The round ends when somebody reaches the player on and touches them. They are on for the next round.
Worth knowing
Whether the player on may deliberately mislead by saying words that sound like the command is a local agreement: in some places it is a permitted device, in others unfair. The distance is fitted to the age of the players.
